Meth Heads Strike Again
«
on:
November 20, 2009, 07:26:55 PM »
Parked along SR 165 this afternoon to walk into an area for a late hunt. I wasn't 1000 yards from my truck before I heard the alarm going off. By the time I ran back there someone had beat the window out of my 2005 Trailblazer and rummaged through everything. I was just north of Wilkenson. My truck was Blue. If anyone happened to see anyone screwing around out there I would appreciate the info. Got a hunch I know who it was...I watched them stalk the area but didn't think much of it.

Sorry. That would be a tough situation if you actually seen them with a gun in your hand.

the exact reason i drove up to Wilkinson last Saturday of elk season saw the gate i wanted to hunt was closed and posted so i turned right around and drove outta there. i will not leave my truck antwhere near the main roads. i hate those F#c%$ up there. they are the reason the woods are closed and thieve ruined a great area to hunt. they are trash and there should be a shoot on site policy on tweekers

This same damn thing happened to my dad's rig last year in SW WA. They got a lot of stuff, and quick. Got prints but nothing ever came of it. Total loss.

I leave my truck unlocked. Nothing in it other than my registration and insurance card. Unless you want some loose change.

warning to these people, the public is getting sick and tired of these thieves i would not shed one tear for any one of these people that took a bullet for stealing! the cops do absolutely nothing about this. been through this half a dozen times on job sites and it's so mundane and routine for them they almost always say you probably wont see your property again.

Really sorry to hear that you are a victim. I know it really sux to work hard for decent stuff and have some meth sh%tbag break in and take your property. When they are caught and arrested they end up doing little time in jail, pay no retribution, and are out again doing the same thieving. My rig has been broken into 3 times the since I moved to WA. I have lived and worked all over the US, Europe, Russia, Asia. Never once had my car broken into until I moved to WA. WA is "tweeker central"
Everytime someone reports theft from a tweeker on WA Hunting people come on here and say "string em up" etc. Does not really help situation.
Here is my advice:
I am in law enforcement and what has helped me reduce my rig getting broken into is sitting in parking area for a few minutes when I park to go hunting, fishing, hiking etc. I really pay attention when driving into area where I intend to park. Sometimes will drive around the area slowly looking for out-of-place looking people before I park. I look around and pay attention to people there. If I see someone who looks out-of- place I go up to them and say a lot cars are getting broke into and ask their name and what they are doing there.( Hint: Meth heads like to hang around in pairs) If they act funny and say they are hunting , fishing and obviously have no gear in their vehicle or with them just say that you called the police and took their photo. A normal person will stay there and say they are doing nothing wrong. Meth heads will take off. Let them know you have identified them and are calling police. (I deal with tweekers a lot at work Tweekers do not like attention from the Police or people). When they leave, tell them if you see their rig in the area again you are immediately calling police. I have been successful in a half dozen arrests of meth heads by doing this.
Obviously if they become aggressive leave the area and report them immediately. If more people would be vigilant think would cut down on thefts.
Also mentioned above by another, I too leave my vehicle open and never ever leave valuable stuff in your rig when parked in WA. Repeat again. Do not leave any valuable stuff in your vehicle!! If you cannot carry it with you leave it at home. Even you you plan on parking a few minutes. Always lecturing my wife not to leave her stuff in the vehicle when she goes shopping. Anyway that is my

have a fella drop you off 4 hours prior in their vehicle, then have a friend drive your rig to the spot nd park it. since you are already behind your blind and out of sight of the tweakers. they wont think anything of it and go for your stuff.
Since trailcam is also in place out of sight but snapping photos like mad, you have picture proof and tweakers crapping their dirty pants at gunpoint.

One of my buddies kept getting his rig broken into while drifting the Chehalis out of Rochester. They mainly stole his stereo because he stopped leaving anything worth money in it. He superglued fish hooks to the back of his stereo. One time he came back to a truck full of blood and no one around. His big joke was that he wished that he had gotten back early enough to catch the guy "red handed".

Thats too funny i hope they were rusty hooks so the bast$%& caught tetnus. We shouldnt have to worry about what we leave or dont leave in our vehicles this thievery has to stop, if a few of them got messed up while stealing maybe they would think twice about breaking into someones rig.

I've been lucky.. Knock knock.
But once i started hearing of crap like this I went out and paid $750 for a weather guard heavy gauge steel truck box.
If I'm not carrying it in and, it won't fit in the truck box it does not go.
Now I know this is not fool proof. Heck a cordless saws all can get them in, but not as easy as busting a window.
I think about it when away from my truck, might be a few mins, or days when back packing in.
So far so good.
I'm only 36, but asa kid we never locked our door at the house, and never pulled the garage door down.
Might have been the dogs, or it might have been different times.
Might be time for a special permit drawing.
After all, what were the wolf permits in ID for? To reduce the number of predators.

Draw a set of crosshairs on your note. Note should read, If you know what this is, this is what I have on the back of your head.

My wife heard a guy say he leaves a couple of shell casings on his dash board when leaving his car in the woods. So far it had worked for him. Might be worth a try, the note seems to work to from what I've heard.

take some red paint, drip it all over the ground next to your truck.... leave a note asking if they want to color the ground with their blood like the last one?
Thieves really

Hearing this makes me weigh the merrits of putting a small and openly labled "handgun vault" inside the rig. Of course there would be no pistols inside, only 10lbs of fast burning powder. It would be real sad if someone stole it and used a torch to open it.
Better than setting up a hunting blind within visual range of the road like the game wardens do it with their "Robo-Buck..."
