Shed hunting article in the Everett Herald today
« on: November 23, 2009, 09:50:04 AM »
http://heraldnet.com/article/20091123/NEWS02/711239876/1031/LIVING08#Wyoming.might.ban.antler.harvesting

im not sure what this means to ethical shed hunters besides that they are being punished for morons decisions to chase elk and deer on quads till their shed break off. Anyways i read the article in the paper today and was surprised when i didnt see the article on any discussion boards, so i thought i would post it

Instead of putting on restrictions for shed hunters who do it ethically what about enforcing the wildlife harassment laws we have in place?  I am assuming that Wyoming has a wildlife harassment law as well?

Its kind of like the gun ban debate, why add additional laws and restrictions to responsible gun owners if your not enforcing the laws already on the books?

I know that chasing animals with a motor vehicle whether its a boat, truck, 4 wheeler or sled is currently illegal in Washington State.  Enforce that, do not restrict the law abiding.

You actually have to take a class and possess a certificate or license to shed hunt in Utah.  You have to recertify everyyear.  It is currently Free to get said certification.  Its not far off fellas.  (I am not joking)

I agree.

Don't penalize ethical outdoorsmen.  Increase the penalties for violations.  Make it hurt, and they will not risk breaking the law.

I wouldn't have a problem with that. Probably be less people out looking for sheds (legally that is)  if you had to have a cert.
