Hey Rasbo,
I dont know how long you have had your traps out but if you set them on good sign then I would leave them for at least 10 days. It has been my experience that when I set on good cat sign if I dont have one in a couple of days I usually get them in the 7-10 day mark. Good Luck!

well cylvertip and I met and he gave me two beavers, hide on...I skinned one just a while ago and it was cool...note to self don't puncture glands.another note to self, wear raingear bibs,,note to self don't let wife catch you skinning beaver on the tailgate of her truck..note to self beaver ass stinks..even though I didn't trap these I cant help but get caught up in what the old trappers might be thinking or doing back then..really a cool feeling...thanks Eric..Oh,and rainshadow built me a scaled down version of a Russell buffalo skinner, that knife works great on beaver...

Have yo thought about trying something like this?  http://www.wasatchwild.com/teaser.html  I think it would work good to get cats closer to your set.   :dunno:  Might just be a gimmick.

I had good luck with goruse wings, but like mentioned, it seemed to take about 2 weeks before I had to club a cat.

Rasbo, glad to help.  :) Thanks for the call, I hope to put it to good use come August.

For the castors, I just kind of chop them up, pull the membrane off the outside ( a little easier if you let them hang for a few days and dry a bit), and throw them in the container.  I then take the oil glands and do a slice at one end and then squeeze it into the bottle to.  Take that and mix it all together - Rubber gloves are good for this whole process by the way.  Then on the line, just take a stick and mix it around in the container, then place the stick where you want the scent.  The breeding season is on right now, so those two should be prime if your going to use it for beaver sets, might turn the kittys on too, who knows.  REI has those Nalogen bottles that are pretty scent proof, they have one larger in size than what I gave you that would be a little easier to get everything into.

Not recomended that you get this on your person or clothes.... it takes a long time to get that beaver smell out :chuckle:
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.
