I used to hunt in unit 75 for deer a few years ago, but left because of the stupid amount of poaching. I even called the sheriff about a group of guys and he said there just wasn't enough wardens for the area and he would pass on the info. Did you guys notice any deer and or poaching going on? That deer tag used to sell out in a couple hours, I've noticed lately that it doesn't even sell out anymore. Just curious, NICE bull by the way and that's a long pack great job.

This was in unit 76 and the elk tag was a draw. But we all had deer tags. I have been going for the last two years and wont go back to that same unit for awhile for deer. I saw one nice buck at about 1500 yards right at dusk. And that was it I passed on a three point because I shot about an equal size buck the last year in the same area. so we all ate our deer tags and they didn't taste very good. I feel the problem lies in people going down and shooting two points right off the road. You have to remember this is a good gene unit and a two point is most likely a yearling buck, he has no idea how to hide and so they get slaughtered. we have made friends with the local gun smith and hunting store (E.L.K) and he mentioned a truck pulling in with 8 two points in the back with California plates. That is bull. I totally agree with a kid shooting one or a disabled hunter, but come on this is what will get our rights taken away. I didn't see any poaching, that I noticed but it is a lot of country. The previous year we tagged 3 deer out of 6 tags. one was a dandy wall hanger, then mine, the 3x3 and a kid in our group shot his first deer a pretty nice two point (not right off the road). Hope this helps let me know if you need any more questions answered, I would be glad to share.
