Heading To Montana

Yikes.  I didn't realize it was that bad.  

When there are bucks like this all over the place, just 30-40 yards away, temptation gets the better of some people.

 So True.  My son and I spot one much bigger than this 300 yards away but I knew it was probably over the line by 100 yards so we held off.  Drove a mile to locate the landowner and asked permission but sure enough the nicest lady in the world wanted us to shoot it but couldn't let us because she had already leased the land out.   Don't think we weren't tempted to shoot and drag though.  I try to teach my son games won through cheating are a hollow victory that sticks with you.  

Good for you Magnum.  Funny how our kids can bring out the best in us, huh?

Good for you magnum.  Did I read where the guaranteed tag program is done this year.  That might effect some of those leases.  Might get costly.

I have always told my younger soldiers;  "Wait until you are old enough to know who YOU are before you have kids.  Otherwise, how will you know who to teach a little person who to be?"  I have always seen my boys an an incarnation of what I could have been...

You can thank the outfitters lobby for a lot of that muleyguy.

. This buck was killed at some point in the middle of the night while we were there this last year. Someone shot it, capped it and left the rest, less than a mile from where 300 was at.

 What a disgrace, all that wasted venison.....

Terrible waste,  I was in E. Montana in 2008 and saw a couple the exact same way.  There was a draw less than a mile from our camp. Somehow they killed some bucks without us hearing at night and just cut the horns off and let the birds have the rest.   People like that need shot, plain and simple!!!

Well, I'm glad i saw this post. We were planning a hunt out there this year. I don't think so anymore. I think I just might head to utah. It seems to me that hunting is becoming more and more of a rich man's sport. I swing a hammer for a living and probably never get to do one of these "outfitted" hunts for 5 grand. that's ok though because i truly enjoy my time spent outdoors. I just don't want people thinking that "they have more of a right" on a piece of public land than someone else, for whatever reason. Kinda sad to hear.

I am embarrassed to say i got a trespassing ticket this year in Montana also(trusted friends instead of doing my own research) it was a 130 dollar ticket and the game warden told me i could pay him or go to the courthouse and pay within 30 days , he also said it a non game violation just like a seatbelt ticket.I will always do my own research from now on.

i was hopeing to hunt montana this coming season (if i had gotten drawn) but now im 2nd guessing...

Everyone (except me) should stop putting in for Montana deer tags... The hunting is way better in WA anyway...
