anyone tried this stuff out? i just picked up 2 boxes of 3 1/2 BB's. i was not impressed with black cloud, i think its a marketing ploy more than anything. anyways i went back to using faststeel, (which i know patters awesome in my gun)  untill i found some hevi-metal today... iv been lookin for it for a while. i intend to 'pattern' it on some snows tomorrow and thursday...

I have shot a box of it and through that box I have noticed it does put alot more BB's on target. But as with the Black Cloud <15 yard shots will rip a few holes in it. Breast shot a couple ducks with Hevi-Metal today and the breasts werent really salvageable.  But all in all it does put more BB's out htere and they do seem to be a bit more deadly, that being more BB's or the "special technology" I'm not sure. I hate having crippled ducks so dead ducks make me happy.

I've used the black clouds and like them. Use 2 shot for snows works great. Have had more issues with the other brands. I've also used them on candians to, seem to work great for me. Heading out myself for that thanksgiving morning goose hunt. Good Luck Wrangler

i shot one box and for the money and results i will stick with my fast steel

managed 5 snows for 2 of us this morning, the hevi-metal seemed to work fairly well, it seems to pattern tighter, i was using a mod choke and i missed my first 9 shots with roughly a 3 bird lead. i normally always start with a 3 or 4 bird lead at 40-50yds im guessing, this seems to be the sweet spot for the faststeel and blackcloud. granted the wind was BLOWING HARD so it made things tricky but still shoulda been able to hit em. i started only leading maybe a bird length and hit the next 3 birds with 5 shots. the hevi-metal seems to have a lot more recoil as well. buddy breast shot a juvi snow with blackcould bb's and tore it the eff up. lots of mature birds comin in now. managed 6 widgeon a blue wing teal and young bull pin also. good luck tomorrow.

If your not pass shooting and enjoy shooting them over the decoys, the inexpensive stuff will work.  I like shooting the faster loads.  If your shooting longer distances that is where the higher density shots make more of a distinction between the standard steel loads.  I have tried a few boxes, dirted the birds.

I shot a box this year. I would put it in as my 2nd and 3rd shots for when the birds would be out farther.  I don't know if it made a big differace

I have shot about 20 geese so far this year using only hevi metal and lets just say it puts the hurt on them. I love the stuff I recommend it to anyone its about as fast as "kent" but hits ways harder.

I have used one box and will switch now to it for quite a while to come.  The long shots, it puts them down dead.  For the close shots I stick to most steel at 1500 or better for Snowgeese and ducks. The heavy metal did out perform three other brands which I won't name, when doing pattern testing. My son and I shot numerous tests to really understand what the pattern was. I used the heavy metal under somewhat controlled conditions as I was the only one in my area shooting and could then know if it was resonsible for the kills. I base this on getting about 100 geese per year and mostly know when I'm on with my shooting.  I would not want a bird that was well hit at less than forty yards with it though.
