I am very sorry and it will never happen again. I am not going to make any excuses. It was a stupid shot for me to take and I know that I could have wounded him by my stupid choices. Everyone have a great day.
Not  that you ahd to apologize at all, but very standup! 8)   Glad it all turned out well!

next time pull the arrow out of the back of the head and dont say anything about the long yardage. ;) You made a questionable shot but dont think for a minute that you are the only hunter to do something like this. If anyone hunts long enough and shoots at enough animals there is always a shot or two that everyone would want to have back and I dont think anyone on this site can deny that. Anyway that would have to be one of the luckiest shots I have ever seen or heard of.

Now were you really 103 yds??   I'm not a bow hunter... But I've head shot a few deer that I was 10-40 feet from before with my rifle.... Is that wrong... I knew I could make an ethical kill... And in the thick of the wet side.. Sometimes there isn't much of a shot...  :dunno:

Me and my son.
now thats the pic you should have posted, congrats on the kill and hopefully next time you will have a little better shot judgment, you owe it to the animal for a good clean ethical kill.

way to be a standup guy, i also take 100+ yard shots at 3d animals and paper targets but would never even think of it on a animal, the only way i would if i had already hit the animal. i am one of those guys that is i get a chance to put another shot in a animal i will congrats on your elk but remember some times it better to have a left over tag then the memories of a poor shot and judgement call and a wounded animal.

Good ad for Bowtech.  We all have made mistakes when it comes to hunting.  Lucky your son was there to enjoy some of it.

still not impressed, hope you learned something
No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.
