I'm now a proud owner of a Knight Bighorn.  Now its time to starting finding a load that will work well for deer and elk.  Can't wait to try it out and see what its all about.  Should be fun.

i got one last year...bought 2 different bullets and 2 different powders and tried them all...found a good combo and went with it.

Congratulations on you purchase.  I use 90 grains of loose Triple 7 ffg with 300 gr. Hornady SST's.  Yelp and my son use the same, only with 100 grains using Triple 7 pellets.

in my CVA i'm running 100 grains of loose 777 and 295 grain copper jacketed powerbelts. that combo grouped the best for me. i also tried the barnes sabots and they shot pretty well too with the same powder charge.

-Im real close to taking the same plunge! From how it sounds, the bighorn seems to be about the most highly rated muzzy that ive seen. Can you get this muzzy with a camo stock? The gun shop by my work has a brand new one sitting in there with a black stock, not that it matters much.

As I said in another thread comparing the Bighorn to the Wolverine.........................

"For all intents and purposes, they are the game gun except for barrel length and what they come with for priming systems.  The Bighorn comes with both the 209 system as well as the breech plug for percussion or musket cap ignition.  You choose what nipple for either the percussion or musket cap.  Other differences might be camo patterns, blued vs. stainless barrels etc.

The Wolverine that comes marked 209 is indeed a 209 ignition system, which is not legal in Washington.  However all one has to do is search online for a Knight #90023 breech plug and simply take out the 209 breech plug that came with the Wolverine and screw in the new one which accepts percussion or musket caps according again to nipple choice that you make.

I have both models and that information is directly from Knight as I talked with them on the phone.  All parts between the Bighorn and Wolverine interchange...i.e. barrels, stocks etc.  Hope that help."

To answer your question........they do come in camo, but since they are not being produced anymore, it may be hard to locate one.

you are hooked now lol i love to muzzleload it is great like archery. i love the thrill of it and even with the frustrations that come with a primitive gun it make it all worth it in the end. i get way more joy out of my muzzloader deer than the deer i have taken with a rifle just somthing more personal about it. i muzzle deer and archery hunt elk love it. if you ever need any  shoot me a pm always glad to help i have tried allot of things and been around the sport for awhile now. congrats and good luck to you.

Good for you. I have Bighorn too
100 grains with 777 and heavy buffalo bullet 375 grains.

Having to get closer to game wil make you a better hunter. Pm me for any help

That sounds great!  Personally, I like 777 pellets with precision lead polymer tipped bullets with sabots.  PM me if you want more info.

I have read that the BigHorn will not be produced in 2010.  Great rifle and Knight is discontinuing it.

Not discontinuing it, Knight has shut down their entire muzzleloader/rifle business.  Parts however will still be offered by another portion of the business.

That is why I pulled the trigger on one finally. Sounds like I am in good company.
