Broken Moultrie. Can I fix it myself
« on: November 28, 2009, 07:00:58 PM »
I have been thinking of buying one of them cameras on ebay that says the flash don't work. I wouder how hard it would be to fix the flash. Has anybody worked on or inside a Moultrie camera? Sometimes they sell a lot of cams that have different problems. I have thought about buying them and fixing them or even salvage parts from them to make a home brew.

Any thoughts?

I've got a couple D-40's that are having flash problems, so I started in on one of them tonight.
1. Getting the case apart was no problem. 10 small Phillips screws opens everything up.
2. The flash bulb Assembly is only four screws.
3. Now comes the tough part. I'll have to contact Moultrie tomorrow about a new flash bulb.

I will update this post if/when I make some progress on this little project. I have a bad habit of starting things like this then never finishing.
