What's with the orange vest?

Just an observation.  Maybe my ignorance has been handed down.  Orange is mostly ridiculous anyway.  Especially the orange coveralls and brand new orange everything to compliment the fear factor.

Fear factor? The orange is just to let Idiot's like yourself know that I'm hunting out there to.

I was out elk hunting in 352 last week.  I saw a Geo Trakker with two orange vest hunters in it.  What's the deal?  Am I missing something here?  I thought it was bow only during this time of the year.  I didn't want to try and ask.  My friend also heard gun shot.

I saw these two people as well. Except when I saw them they were standing beside the road with a couple dogs. It was a man and a woman. Not sure what they were doing, maybe they were just out for a hike or looking for sheds with dogs? They didn't have guns with them, so I don't know.

They probably are just hikers being safe by wearing orange.......why they don't wear bright blue or hot pink or something......   Probably not a bad idea to wear bright clothing during hunting season while out hiking (whether or not it is only archery season).  Did the dogs have orange vests on too?

I don't wear my orange while driving because I don't want hard core true hunters to think I'm a road hunter. 

I don't wear my camo because I don't want to scare any nonhunters or invite antis to vandalize my truck. 

I don't wear street clothes because I don't want the road hunters to resent me being in the woods during THEIR time. 

I don't wear undies because in Hunter Safety they told me careless shooters may mistake a flash of white for a deer.  I wear sunglasses so I don't go snowblind from the glare, and it sure is cold when I get out.  However, I am so politically correct that I feel my personal discomfort is a small price to pay in order to not offend anyone I may encounter in the woods.

Too bad about all them nuns in that tour bus, though - guess I should have changed out of my woods driving attire into street clothes before hitting I-5.  The Seagals seemed to appreciate it though - guess they haven't seen a real man this season.

i where orange all the time while driving, if i see a big buck by the road im sure as hell gona shoot it and i bet im not the only guy that would . im not worried bout being shot at but i where orange when i have to, although if some one did take a shot at me they better kill me on the first shot

i live and hunt in idaho and i dont ever wear orange during rifle season until i have an animal down, but i try and get in deeper than most other hunters and since i hunt unit 39 the road hunting capitol of idaho it isnt very hard i rarely see any other hunters once i get more than 1/2 mile from the nearest road, sometimes its fun to sit on a hill a 1/2 mile or so above the road at midday and count the trucks and quads cruisin by

First of all, I didn't mean to start anything with this thread.  Just curious what those two hunters hunt with orange on in bow season.

I saw the guy and the lady with the dog as well, but they are not the hunters I'm talking about.  Funny thing is, that suv you're talking about stopped by our camp.  They didn't know we camp there cause you can't really see.  The lady got out of their suv and started heading toward our camp.  I walked toward the suv so that they could see us.  About a minute later, the lady ran quickly to their suv from the bushes.

Yaj, could it be that you saw them in elk area 3911 or 3912?  Master hunters have a ML season there from Aug 1 - Jan 20 and they must wear hunter orange.  I don't think those are very close to 352 though.........

I wish I would've had my orange on while driving, maybe it would've helped .
There is still some season going on. Hey, you never really know the crazy things people have been exposed to in the woods. I wouldn't think twice if I had a close encounter and the next time tried to avoid it by wearing orange...

anyone hunting in 371, 3911 or 3912 must wear orange. regardless of wepon or tag type.
