3" 4 shot to 7 shot for anything but geese. Use 3 1/2" 2 shot for geese, snows and canadians.

Shot size??? Slugs reach up farther! At least that what it seemed people must be using for those 70-100 yard shots that you see people trying all the time.
Seriously, all three, whatever I have around. I generally use whatever is cheapest (I do try to use the 1500+ fps rounds) and when keeping shots under 40 yards, an extra 1/8 or 1/4 ounce of shot usually isn't going to matter. I personally like #3 for jump and pass shooting ducks, #4 for decoying ducks, #2 and BB for geese, and #6 for swatting winged ducks (never at a flyer). Not sure why #7 steel is even made, maybe for non-toxic starling removal.

i mainley use 3in #4's for ducks a 3in BB or # 2's for geese. i used to shoot alot of 3 1/2in shells but after shooting both i figured a duck or goose is just as dead with less pellets at 20yds and its a little cheaper.
