Stick Bow Suggestions?
« on: December 02, 2009, 08:59:54 AM »
I am looking to purchase a longbow this winter.  I will be using it mostly for small game and birds (maybe deer).  I shoot a compound instinctive now and was using a recurve for this purpose until it delam'd on me this fall.  (was a old old old fred bear (bought it used 25+ years ago).

I am looking for something in the 55-60 pound range and somewhat inexpensive as I dont want to go hog wild and find that I want to switch back to a recurve.  I am looking at the PSE Sequoia (sp?) at around $250.  Good or not? and any other suggestions on a longbow in that price range or would that be a good one to start out with?

Thanks

I have heard good things about the Bear Montana longbow, which I think is in the right price range for you...

If you decide to go more expensive, I currently shoot a Wes Wallace Royal, and in addition to being beautiful, it's the best shooting stickbow I've ever held.

You'll love the longbow...

I have the Sequoia 68" 55lb long bow bought from Cabelas. I don't hunt more then birds and rabbits with it but have had it for 2 years now and love it.. Its a very nice bow for the price and is a lot of fun to shot. I was thinking about bow hunting next year for deer and if I do it will be the bow I use. I also have a compound P.S.E. That I can shot 3 inch groups with at 30 yards but think I want to go more traditional.
