I went up and checked it out this morning.  The water level is all the way up.  The rain over the last weekend filled it up.  One guy out in the middle blind with not much going on.  It is starting to freeze up, so by this weekend, you will be breaking ice by the hunting area.  It is supposed to get down to 1 degree by next Friday with a good wind chill factor, so it may not be worth hunting.

so you too can keep your yap shut unless you are going to defend members of this site.

wow! Mr Elliott where did you get your internet cop degree at? You sure do like telling everyone how to act and speak....Thanks for the laugh!

No need to pay any attention to Skyhigh if you know how to swim as there are many ditches awaiting the unwary wading hunter. I suspect that he digs them during the low water every five years.  :chuckle:

Oldguy Ken.....

you should have gone out there during the extreme low water and you to would learn how to stay dry when crossing those ditches.....but since it appears you have not done so, I'll help you out the next time we meet...

For others.......there are only two ditches one on the east side and one on the west side...The east side runs north/south and does a ninety and runs east west on the northern side..

The west side ditch also runs north/south and does a ninety also, but on the south end....

Listen to Skyhigh, I believe that guy knows his stuff.

ahh Tom, your gonna make my head get big and puffy......I just hate stupid people reading stupid things off the internet and then doing stupid things out in the field making us all look stupid..

You would shed a tear seeing the areas now...

i couldn't find the blind map, but when you go up there it shows you where all of the blinds are.

i know that there about 25 or so blinds and i know i didnt tag them all but the little islands marked with red dots have blinds on them and i may have made up some blinds as well, there are a few good islands you can sit behind and pass shoot but you can only hunt over decoys while you are in the pit blind.

You better move your red line down a little lower, like an inch...Wouldnt want someone internet scouting and coming on here blaming you for giving them bogus information that cost them a ticket...But ya know it would be their own stupid fault for relying on stupid information from the internet..

For safety sake, your pass shooting, while sitting behind certain islands will cause a possible accident and will result the entire lake to be revisited for certain regulations...As it stands now, the blinds are situated with specific shooting lanes to allow the most usability and safety for a small area...Actions like you stated will force the state into drastic and major changes...It has worked for years dont screw it up for just a duck!

While hunting on the lake, just find a blind, set some decoys out and shoot the birds that are committed to your spread! Pretty simple huh?

The water level is all the way up.  The rain over the last weekend filled it up.

As stated in a previous post the level is at a mid October level..It can take another 12-18 inches to fill it up to normal December levels...Approx. about 3-4 more inches of rainfall will accomplish this....

Your correct on the ice, most liekly wont be worth the effort after a few more days...and the barely fields will be eaten up in a matter of minutes, as there are way more weeds than barely this year! It will really suck for the birds that have relied on those fields for protein for many many years.... The state sure dropped the ball on farming those fields this year...

Skyhigh, you over looked the fact that I stated that I went there this morning, scouting my friend is key.  I wasn't trying to lead you on.  Other info wasn't bad.  Have faith brother.  Here are some pics from TODAY.

wasnt saying you were leading me on..You stated that the lake was "full"...I stated it needs approx 3-4 more inches of rainfall to "fill" it up to normal December levels...It is far from "full"

The lake as it stands now is about 12-18 inches below normal levels..

I was there TODAY also (twice AM and PM)... did not overlook that fact you stated you were there...your preaching to the choir about scouting being the key, thats why we will not cross paths with decoys in tow there anytime soon..huh?

Watch out Meats...He is gonna complain to that moderator that writes in CAPITOL letters that your trying to hit on em..

Nope, won't be hunting it unless there is nasty wind to blow the birds off the bay.  You could have had a decent coot shoot today.  The bay even looked a little empty today.

Are the birds even moving around up that way right now? I know down here it is really slow.

At first light, first 1/2 hour there are birds flying, but it seems to die very quickly.  Shoot good and you can limit, if you decided to wait it out, it might be a long day in the blind.  Not much moving from what I could see later in the day.  Occasional flocks, enough to get some excited.  Need the weather to get them stired up.  Wind would be nice without several inches of rain in a day.
