Skyhigh, I did go out when the lake was low; during the blind brushing and several times after. I haven't fallen victim to the "deadly ditch" syndrome yet but I don't usually wade the lake if the boat will do the job.                                                                               Another problem for newbies is that you might find it interesting recovering your decoys if you toss them out in front of an island with a blind on it and they end up over a depression so that you can't approach them without filling your waders.

You just sounded a bit confused about the ditches and what I was saying, matter of fact, I think you stated that what I say shouldnt be listened to.... or something like that... I am glad you got out there and walked the lake bed when it was dry, the best time to have done it would have been the first part of Septemeber, everything would have been obvious and the ways around those ditches for a guy in waders....heck, even for an old guy...

I checked it out yesterday.  The lake level seemed high to me but it was the first time I’ve ever seen it.  There were lots of hunters and I didn’t see a single duck, just a few coots.  I just observed from the shoreline; didn’t think it was a good idea to go rowing around on a sight seeing trip while everyone else was hunting.  Looks too busy for my tastes, so I’ll keep searching for a better spot.

Skyhigh,

My comment regarding the ditches advised that " if you can swim" then paying attention to your knowledge of where the ditches are can be disregarded; don't listen, then be prepared to swim.

Ken, I apologize, I read it wrong.........Lately there has been alot of poor information being delivered on the internet about this topic which has got me piped up...I hate it when someone puts bogus/in-accurate information up and then the hoards of interent scouters show up making everyone look stupid...

I have been referring them to the WWA Whatcom chapter, and stating the best time to learn the area is at either the brushing party or the clean-up party, heck I heard the they will even take a guy out during the season that has not made one of these events...God job WWA...

That's a result of the sunken blinds on the islands. Who in their right mind would want to climb out of the blind and pull down their waders on top of an island for all the world to see? Take the poo to your local vet to be tested and if it has no  tape worms or round worms in it, you'll know that the previous hunter is the culprit.

Thats just not right. Everyone should bag it and pack it out. How would you like if someone or their dog took a steamer on your pourch.

I doubt he would like it but he certainly didn't say he was leaving his treasures out there. Your response seems like you are challenging him as if he is the guilty party. People wonder how these sort of topics turn negative. Anyway...

Well you should probably consider a different choice of words next time because that is the way it is easily interpreted. Just stating the obvious - again.

Let's analyze it. I am not accusing you. So don't get defensive. I am just stating that is seems pretty easy to interpret it exactly as I have declared - because that is how I read it. I think you chose a poor way of communicating what you meant. That's all. I have done it before.

In direct response (immediate) and including a quote  you said

Quote
How would you like if someone or their dog took a steamer on your pourch.

Now that can be taken as directly speaking to someone specific. Especially when using the quote and especially in direct and immediate response. Pretty easy to do. I agree that you probably didn't mean it that way but this is how these sort of things get out of hand. You don't have to agree but I read this stuff all day long and listen to complaints and the quarrels usually surround wording and discussion just like that. Probably seen it a thousand times.

And that's about all I got to say on that one ;-)

Ray, you stated this absolutely correctly. When I first started posting on the rock climbing site people "inferred" from my direct manner that I was being some what abusive and combative (which I admit I can be), but I was not trying to be any thing of the nature. I like to kid around and joke, and at times I don't do a good enough of a job of communicating with folks in cyberspace. In cyberspace we miss the hand jesters, facial expressions, voice inflections, etc. that help us so much in communication so there is always room for miscommunication and thus arguments begin. It's too bad that this happens but that is the way it is and only by trying to let the people explain themselves can we over come this tendency to get hackles up and dig in for a low down argument that really should not have happened in the first place, because if 99% of the people on the site met we'd all get along anyway.

Have a good work week everyone,
Sisu
