My Zebra is in the new Jonas Taxidermy catalog!
« on: December 02, 2009, 01:42:26 PM »
My taxidermist (Jerry Huffaker out of Abilene Texas http://huffakertaxidermy.com/gallery.htm) recently let me know that my Zebra mount was put in the Jonas Brothers Taxidermy supply catalog.  It’s funny, it was a last minute decision to hunt the Hartman’s Zebra, and turned out to be my favorite hunt, and the best mount.  I ordered a catalog and will scan in a photo when it arrives.

I have posted photos before, but to keep you from hunting around, here they are again.  The ones with the red background were taken at my house, and the others were taken at Jerry’s studio.

thanks, I re-painted just for these incoming mounts.  I think the dark wall shows off the mounts better.  I still have some tacky looking green trim around the window that I need to fix when I have a little bit of downtime.

I was wondering the same thing, is this a trophy hunt or meat hunt?

It was trophy hunting for me, you cannot export any of the meat.  However everything gets used.  All the meat is sold to market.  The exception was the Zebra.  The folks I hunted with do a lot of leopard hunts, and Zebra meat makes great leopard bait.  So mine was quartered and hung from trees as bait.

Very nice mount.  I love pedestal mounts of African game.  I didn't hunt zebra when I was there but I enjoyed seeing them.  I had six pass under my treestand one afternoon and though I'm not a fan of their obnoxious vocalizations, they are one of Africa's most beautiful creatures.
