Broken Antlers???
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:08:23 PM »
My son and I were bird hunting last weekend, and found an interesting antler, sorry havent learned how to post pics yet.  It was an antler tip, about 9" long with one other small sticker point.  It was broken off, and looks pretty fresh.  Must have been broken in the rut?? Anyone else ever find one of these???

A good friend of mine shot a buck in Montana mid November that had 3 or 4 inches of a broken antler tip pierced and stuck into its ear. It would have made a sweet mount. Wish I had some pictures of it.

Pathfinder Jr found a point this elk season.  Looked like a G5 off a decent bull.  He poked around for a few minutes and found 3 more peices of it.  It fit together like a puzzle.  He has it on the bookshelf in his room.  If I remember, I'll snap a picture tonight and post it.

found this one last year, broke off just above the base.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

I've found a couple.  Got an elk tine this fall while out photographing.  Found the top end of a raghorn and the midsection of a nice bull where it had been broke on both ends and a couple deer tines I guess throughout the years.

I shot a whitetail at our place in Okanogan this fall with his left antler broke off about four inches above the eyeguard. I told my son he will have to find the other half of my antler next spring. Should be about 12 inches long whit three more points on it  :bash:. I knew i could not eat the antler so I took the deer that grew week antlers out of the breeding population  :chuckle:.
