Pennsylvania Deer Hunt!
« on: December 05, 2009, 08:01:09 AM »
I had a very fun time hunting deer in PA. I was able to fill my doe tag around 9am on opening day. Had a single doe come up threw the briar's and she got a high velosity dose of .270 win lead. My Dad got his doe about 30min later with his 30.06. We saw bucks, but we were unable to confirm 4 points on a side to make the bucks legal, so they walked away. Here are some Doe pic's.

Really small animals over there in PA huh? I was surprised. The gun next to the doe I think was bigger.

Anyways, Looks like really tender good eats!!

Congrats!!

Yes, Dad and I blasted a young ones. You guys sure dont miss much. And yes, the meat is very very yummy! We got the meat back before I left and had some good hamburgers! Deer kills in 3 states is kinda cool this year. I would have liked to filled my buck tag in PA, but all in all a great big game season this year.

Longrange, Hope you get out. Lots of deer back there. A Non resident hunting licence including a buck tag is $101.70. Cheap for non residents I think. Have fun!

people in pennsylvania are hunting fanatics.  there always hunting out west.  they also have wild hogs which would be great to hunt in the off season.

First whitetail I ever shot was near Berwick. Fantastic place to deer hunt. Where were you hunting? Nice report. Congratulations.

I was in north west PA in Crawford county near Cambridge Springs. It is 30 miles south of Erie. With this being the 6th or 7th year of the antler restrictions, there are some real monsters. Locals are upset at the high numbers of doe tags sold every year in an effort to bring down deer numbers. I must say, the last few years I have surly not see as many deer. It must be working. I think they sold 30,000 doe tags this year for Crawford county alone. In the old days, tag sales were under 20,000. Strut may also have an idea on doe tag numbers. Yes, lots of hunters. Men, Women, boys, girls, all hunt and all have guns. Its great!
