First Muzzy Bull
« on: December 05, 2009, 06:02:31 PM »
My partner and I got in em this morning. We spotted a single cow feeding on a spur across the canyon about a half a mile away. So we go around and make a sneak on her in hopes that she is not alone. As we got near to where she was all hell breaks loose down the hill on the other side of one of those fenced test areas. So we beat it back to the truck to head around to the next spur. On the way there we spot the herd about 250-300 yds single filing away over the ridge. I am watching through my binos and see 2 legal bulls in the middle of the herd. My partner says they are only spikes but I knew what I saw. So off we go down the next spur to the end and here they come out of the bottom heading towards the timber about 100yds away. My partner heads for the timber while I stayed watching bull after bull come out but only spikes. After I made sure there were no shooters I headed towards the timber. I only went about ten yds when I hear my partner shoot. YEE HAW I say as I run in his direction. As I entered the smoke filled timber I spot my partner down the hill about 75yds. When I see him I yell did you get him and he says he should be right here somewhere. He then spots the bull about 40 yds uphill to our right standing there looking sick. He pulls up to finish the job and pop goes his gun, I pull up and bang-smoke filled timber again. The bull was still standing but soon tipped over :IBCOOL: Yee Haw. There were about 35-40 head of elk with 2 shooters and a half a dozen spikes. Mark (THE TAG WAS NOTCHED AND IN MY PARTNERS POCKET FOR PICS)

Nice!  Gotta like it when you both get to put a bullet in him! How far did you have to pack it out?
