Late Toutle bull archery help
« on: December 07, 2009, 08:47:57 AM »
Any recs for where to look for the bulls in the late season?  I only have a few days to hunt and was wondering if I should go back to the state land on the North side of the unit and hunt lower elevations or if the gates are open to the weyer land to the South to drive in.  Just trying to help the old man out one more time before he eats his tag.

I just spent the last week all over the state land and Weyco land along the South Fork. Only found cows. with no spikes in the bunch.  I find that odd, being spikes don't leave the herd till they branch out and get pushed out by the bigger bulls.  I was high, mid and low on the river. Bumped cows every day.  I saw two bulls one spike and one branched 3by or 4by not real sure.  I glassed them quickly and started to put the stalk on. By the time I got around the open timber to where they were, they had a new zip code.

I to would very appreciative for some ideas of places to check out.  I am thinking of going into the South end of the unit.  :dunno:

As soon as the snow hit Sat. night there were jerk wads driving every DNR road doing doughnuts.  :mor:  That didn't help things much either.
