boat launch for Spencer's Island
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:45:06 AM »
so I tagged along with Snowman to Spencer's Island this sunday and it was awesome!!!   is there a boat launch that you can run a bigger boat up to the island? I saw some in those fold up blinds.... where did they launch? I am wondering for future reference so hopefully my dad can bring our boat over to hunt it

Yeah you launch at Langus Park there under I-5 and run around through the sloughs. Kinda gotta know your way around in there

Not a problem man, its been a long time since i've spent any time in there. I grew up in Marysville and used to run around in there all the time cutthroat fishing and duck hunting, even shot a deer in there when I was younger. Caught lots of sturgeon in a few spots there

hey guys...while i got you talking about spencer lake.  was looking at a map of the joint.  can you only hunt the northern part of the island?  i see that part of it is owned by snohomish county...or can you hunt all the tidal areas?  live in tacoma and gonna have to take a trip north if i want to shoot any birds...very slow down here.

thanks

Spencer isn’t an easy hunt.  The South end is no hunting, no dogs off leash, no guns.  Parking is by the water treatment facility, at least half a mile from the entrance.  The hunting area is another ¼ mile from there.  The island is full of ditches, bogs, lots of trash and the water level fluctuates with the tide and river level.  There are waste treatment ponds just West of the hunting area.  But there are lots of birds.

thanks CP.  used to be stationed up there and wasn't sure there was actually anything back there that was huntable.  guess i've got my work cut out for me to hunt up there then.

Spencer is a good place to go when other things freeze up for sure.
