Turkeys in the San Juan's?

Saw an old post but couldn't see any of the replies...which island or islands are they on and is there much public land there?  My son and i are just starting out and could use any help we can get.  Just found the site (AWESOME!!)  and am reading every post I can...hope I don't get fired!
