Not sure I am real excited or not yet to hunt bears if I put in and draw this spring.  I may just be in a burned out stage right now. I already know I am looking forward to working on a bunch of bear this spring.  Probably one of my favorite animals to mount/rug.

I am not really familliar with the spring hunt so please forgive my ignorance. What is the advantage of the spring hunt over the regular season?  Is the attraction the quality of meat or pelt?  I am lost.

Well, it gets you out hunting bears while only a few others are allowed..

and spring bears generally have really nice hides, if you can get them before they start to rub off that winter coat.

Where I hunt you just see so much more activity in the spring. The coat on my 08 Spring bear was great but it was good on my 09 fall bear too. They didn't taste any different to me but the spring bear had absolutely no fat which made cleaning a breeze and not as greasy and slimy. I'd hunt spring bears every year if I had the choice, it's just a great time to be out in the woods. Turkey hunting in the morning and bear hunting in the afternoon and evening. 08 was an awesome season.

Applying for Skagit, but I don't really care if I get drawn or not, would be cool though!

I'll be applying. I have 3 points now, probably not enough, but I'll keep trying. I haven't harvested one yet, but if I get drawn, I'll put a lot of effort into it.

You never know. I got drawn with 2 in 08. I think 2010 is going to be another lucky year.

I was drawn last year with 2.

Thanks Saylean and Gutpile, you give me hope. Since I live in Marysville I put in for Monroe and Skagit. I know there are plenty of bears around, I just need to put in my time scouting. I see a new trail cam in my future. :)
