Filled our Alta A tags
« on: December 09, 2009, 05:00:44 PM »
Well been wanting to post these for awhile but haven't had a computer until now. We started on the 7th of Nov hunting hard for three days only seeing small bucks, two's and three's very few does and one 4x3 with a very bad eye. On the third day I was working the timber up high and dropped down at about noon when the wind and snow picked up. I was working a finger ridge down to the bottom of the canyon when a doe popped up at about 40yards on the ridge in front of me. The wind was in my face and she wasn't spooked at all when I raised up on her. She was only there for a few seconds and turned to feed down hill. Just as she was out of sight a nice 4x4 raised his head and had me pegged. I still had the rifle up and had the cross hairs on his chest but looking at him straight on "NO EYE GAURD'S" we had a stare down for about a minute until he started down to fallow his doe. That's when I got a real good look at his front forks and couldn't let him go. I touched off right as he was turning and lost sight of him. I took my backpack off, turned on the radio and called Mike. He already had his on and ask "well is he a shooter"? My reply was "well I hope I don't regret pulling the trigger so soon in the hunt".

Here I am starting out that day. Pack loaded and ready to go.

Here he is 28 outside, 24 inside.

Starting to pack him out.

And at the truck.

The next morning we got out a little late and Mike paid the price with taking this very nice buck not to far from camp. 27 outside with the kicker that you can't see, 21 inside, 5x7

Sorry for the crapy cell phone phone pic's I can't get the card from the camera to transfer the pic's. Been a great year and hope everyone has a good safe Holiday.

Take care and be safe.
Tony

Can't see the pics at work...  Congrats though.  Sounds like a great hunt.
