Shot my first duck Friday.

Shot my first duck on Friday.  Was hunting with Snowman and ShadowCat.  They got me started into waterfowl last year.  Never owned a shot gun til last year.

That is the plan!  If I do Jahn Nabb of Willow Creek Taxidermy is going to do it.  If I do it I will never find the time and it will sit in my freezer to 10 years.

It was great to be there with Michelle as she got her first duck. I sent her a picture of her just moments after she shot it and her smile is as big as the Rocky Mountains. That is what hunting is all about.

Michelle, thanks for sending the pic.  It looks in great shape and should turn out great. :)  Shadow cat, you need to post that pic of the mighty hunter with her first duck. ;)

Way to go Michelle!  Can't wait to see the mount...

Yes wrangler it is a hen shoveler.  It's the best looking bird I have shot so far, LMAO.  Still seriously pushing around the idea of having it mounted.  Talked to WCTaxidermy for 45 min Friday talking about poses.  I've never mounted or had anything mounted that I have killed.  Figgured I'd try and change that.  Like I said if I were to mount it it would sit in my freezer for 10 years befor I got around to it.

You need to mount that duck IMHO.  You only get one "first".

That's funny Tonto, my first duck was a green wing teal hen also.  That tiny little duck was the only thing I could kill with the single shot .20 ga that I started hunting with when I was a kid.  Shot at lots of ducks, but they just wouldn't go down  :chuckle:
By the way, I wish I had mounted that duck.  It would mean a lot to me...
