Not joking, between exempting the tribes from off-rez taxation after she clearly got kickback's, now this, plus the overall mismanagement of State funds I believe she should be impeached. People bought those licenses in good faith the money would be spent on the department, that is called lying in most free Countries. I would sign a petition for her removal from office, she has proved to me many times over she cares nothing for the people of this State and only her self interest and if she has her druthers we will have no opportunity left in our own State. This outrages me, primarily due to the fact that the State had already implemented surcharges after cutting services, which is contrary to the current model of self-Governance that Government Agencies are now required to follow, in which each individual politician responsible for making decisions such as this can support the fact they acted in the best interest of the people and are accountable for their decisions. If she was acting in our best interest she would at the very least poll the people who bought the licenses as to if they would support this change in the use of fee's dedicated to one fund. She has little ethical common sense. The large increase in State lottery and raffle tags this year, as well as the nearly 80 cut positions should have been enough with the license surcharge to account for what is a fair contribution by the WDFW to balance the State's budget!!

I got in trouble for saying 'idiot' and '*censored*' in another thread. Can I say it here?

Do you remember when slick willie stole millions from hunters? I can't remember the name of the fund.

Then they couldn't account for any of it when asked.

I take my shots at WDFW and there are members that think thats all I do but I thinks its fairly hard for anyone to argue that we have a serious lack of quality big game hunting available and there management practices more closely resemble govt work program than a scientifically based effort to improve the resources for all sportsmen ..

The really disappointing thing is that higher fee's are more like to go to herpes prevention than wildlife enhancement....and thats what sucks the most about whats happening.

well....i am supposed to be getting a call from the deputy director of the program and supposedly he can confirm or deny this. however the very nice lady i spoke to on the phone tells me that when budget time comes around there are always requests for allocation of funds back to the general fund, she yells me that the amount of money that does go back in is minimal when compared to what is requested every year. she also tells me that she is pretty confident that this request will be DENIED! so here is to hoping, i will update as soon as i have it

I think that like most news reports, you are only getting half the story on these funds.  I was at the Gatrame Management Advisory Council (GMAC) meeting in Cle Elum this weekend, and got the briefing paper on this.  I don't have the document in front of me right now, so I will post more on this later tonight, but the jest of it was that due to some ways those funds are set-up, and some other regulations, the WDFW can't get at the funds they need, unless the funds get transferred into the General Fund.  But....the legislation to transfer those funds also stipulates that those funds can only be used on the Wildlife projects they were originally intended for.  It was all about legalities.  They still intend to use the funds for the wildlife.  I'll be able to tell you more in a couple of hours....I'm at work and the document I need is back in the hotel room...If I recall correctly, the GMAC voted 9-2 to endorse this legislation.....then they voted 9-2 to not endorse the Wolf Management Plan Option 2.
