I will be going over to see my mom who lives outside Poulsbo just after Christmas for a week and I was wondering if there would be any steelheading or anything worth doing outside? I'm not afraid to get wet? Suggestions? Not affraid to drive a couple hours.

thanks

Chris

Go accrossed the HC bridge and hit any one of the closest rivers. The other option if you have a boat is to launch down near Seabeck for some blackmouth if it is open at that time, it usually is.

What are you guys using this time of year? Corkies and eggs, vibrax spinners, spoons, jigs and bobbers, prawns?  I guess I need to look at the regs also. Thanks

Always check the regs, but you will find something open on the Olypen. I always use a combination of eggs and corkies, I just experiment until I find a winner. Peach is a good color for steelies.

Id do the Hoko with eggs and drift gear as well float and eggs. It will be open and should be stocked full of brats. Hit it last Sunday and there were 2 for me!

Its a jaunt but will be worth it. The Lyre may be a good bet too. But the Hoko's better...

Is the Hoko out near Ozett? Where would you recomend fishing it? Hip waders and bank fishing okay? Isnt that a artificial only river?

thanks

Its only fly only from the bridge at the hatchery and above. Fish from the hatchery down. Lots of access for bank fishing. Very little to know use from floaters as the first canyon is a doozy. Lots of river. Was up there again yesterday. Steelies are in.

Any pullout on the way up to the hatchery is access.

And yes, it flows from Ozzete.

Id start at the hatchery and work down. The road flows the river pretty good.

500 cfs and rising is too muddy. You want it flowing at 500 and on the drop on the gauge...

Hey if you have access to a pickup I'll take you floatin.  I just sold my Toyota and don't have anything to pull the boat with and I don't know if I'll have found another truck yet.  Probably could get someone else to pull it.  If you're interested call me when you get up here. I know alot of good bank fishing areas also My cell # is 360-808 1791.

I have my 07 v6 grand cherokee that I pull my 17' alumweld with, if its on a trailer I would think it would be big enough, we should talk about taking a drift.

let me check my work schedule tomorrow for that time frame and we'll work something out.  I have tons of gear, extra rods, even got a heater in my boat.  Should be able to get you into some fish.
