Ranger .22 - Any info?
« on: December 17, 2009, 04:29:20 PM »
Anyone know anything about the Ranger brand .22?
We have a model 36 22 S-L-LR bolt action (missing the clip though) that we are considering giving to my nephew but we would have to cut the stock down.

I am looking for a possible age and value. It is used but in fair condition. I just don't want to cut something up that may be worth more than an entry level .22

Drill 2 holes into the stock from the butt plate side in 1/2" farther than what you will be cutting off, use a scroll saw to make the cut, save the piece and you can reinstall it later when he grows.., a slip over recoil pad works to cover the cut if you dont want to fill and sand it..
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Most likely an old stevens. A pic would help. Brownells probably carries the magazines.

That would be a stevens 416, worth much more than $150. Probably pull $400 in excellent condition.
