Wifes Bow

Okay my wife has been hounding me for almost a year for a bow. So I bought her one. I got a Hoyt Kobalt fully set up from Rainier Archery. Here's my question. What spine should I buy her for her carbon arrows??? Her draw length is 27" and will shooting it at #45. Thankyou for any advice.

I would think a 500 spine should work, unless you think she'll go up in poundage quickly then you may want to go with 400's so you don't end up buying something she's not going to use in a month. Also depends on the bow max poundage if it maxes out at 50 stay with the 500's.

For what it's worth, I have a 25" draw length and shoot 55#. I use 500's. I was having tuning problems with 400's and switching solved that.

She can pull #50. But I want her to start at #40 to work on her form. So I should go to the 500 spine. Thank you very much. That's what I'll do. Oh also. What is a good weight for a BH. Should I buy 85's or 100's.

Have her shoot whatever you are shooting, I am assuming you're shooting 100g. No reason to buy something different unless you have too. If the arrows don't seem to be tuning with the 100's you can always go to the 85's and it will stiffen the spine of her arrows if needed. Plus her FOC will be better with 100g, ,my son, my wife and I all shoot 100g Shuttle T's.

colockumelk i bought the same bow for my wife for her new bow in april as a wedding present to her her old bow was a jennings the kobalt is a great bow the set up that i have her shooting is goldtip 3555 with a 75 grain filed point drives tacks for a broadhead she shoot a innerloc 75grain 3 blade 1 1/16" cut i used these heads in new zealand and they worked great. her draw lenght is almost the same as your wifes hers is 26 /34 with loop figured in she has shot those arrows from 35# with her old bow and her kobalt is set right now at 47# i would give them a try go with the expedition hunters at .006 and never look back about 70.00 a dozen fletched. hope this helps

Hey thanks carp. That does help alot. I'll try her out with that same set up. Thanks for the advice. I'll definately try the 75grains. After all the only game she'll be shooting with it are deer. JBAR I shoot 125's so that's a little heavy for her bow. Plus she'll only be shooting white tail deer in the future. Ones from the south too so they're super small.

no prob bud, like i said the 75 grain innerlocs are great i used them on my full metal jackets out of my 83lb x force while in new zealand. they preformed awsome great locking system i normaly hunt with montecs for elk and other animals here but wanted to try the full metal jackets and to keep weight down i went to the 75 innerloc instead of my 125 montecs with my xt goldtips. i shot 2 rams and a goat in nz and they all went less than 50 yards my brother has shot a buck with them and it went about 35 yards the blades were in great shape and one ram i shot threw one shoulder and the other ram went threw both shoulders i was suprised by there strength i would check them out at 1 1/16" cut thats great also and they aint to spendy also.

Yeah 125 would be a little heavy! I'm not familiar with the innerlocks but you may also think about the Montec 85's with the lower KE her bow will be putting out a cut on contact head might be a better way to go. Good luck and get that woman out shooting!

Thanks again for the help JBar. She LOVES her bow. And has been shooting as much as she can. As we all know shooting a bow is addicting as hell. My Hoyt has been in the shop getting new strings and cables, so I've been going through withdrawals right now. But I get it back this week.
Thanks for the advice.
