I think the low temps might have something to do with it... but when they get hungry enough they'll find it. Over on the west side while I was elk hunting, my gut pile and 3 others remained untouched until the rain came back in. With 7 degree morning temps, you'd think that something would have been cold and hungry enough to take a go at it, though!
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

is baiting coyotes legal in this state? I know is a no no with bear but ok for deer (damn regs are so confusing). Why is there not a more specific area in the regs addressing coyote hunting. Whats i there now is only like a half page at best and thats mostly talking about not shooting wolves.

You can bait everything in this state unless it specifically says it's illegal, ie bears, migratory birds, turkeys.

Elk, deer, cats (both Roberts and lions), coyotes and fox are all legally baited.

What do some of you guys out there use for bait? Calling seems to be the most popular but i'd like to try both ways and see how it turns out.

I have a friend who hits the local butcher shops and hauls off their scraps.  Lots of folks use dead calves, or other livestock that has died.

I usually have to shoot a couple of cows a year for my neighbor and they make great bait!  Other times I get heads and parts from a slaughter truck or butcher.
