Nuttin wrong with 223 for vermin! Cheap cartridge to reload for too.

I think I'd opt for the 22-250 though. I like velocity!

I was a little down on the .223 myself till I started actually connecting with mine. If shots are 300ish or less it's awesome. if they'll be a little further 22-250 would be my choice. I'm very interested in those Tikka's though. I do believe my next rig is going to be a T3 light in .243.  :tung:

I like mine which is in 2506.  I also have a 223 and 22-250 ackley, and yes, the ackley is fast, but I find very little practical diff between the 22's....  The 25 is a step up though.  I'd pick up a 223 if you're going to use it for something like rats/prairie dogs, and yotes.  If just yotes, I'd step up to the 243.

i reload and shoot a 55gr v max out of my AR. but your going to want to look into what the twist is on a tikka in 223, if its faster and i think it is your going to want to stay with a little heavier bullet. and that 22-250 is still on there i was just looking at it. it shows a left hand pic but its a right hand rifle. its been there for a while i bet you could get it for under 500

The 8" twist of the TIkka .223 should handle the 55s with no problem. I would be concerned if shooting anything under 50.

I love my tikka 223, have a Leupold 3.5X10 VXIII on it, great shooter. You might want to read about Nikon pulling support from the Idaho predator hunt before you buy one. I know I am done with Nikon. (Idaho SWF predator derby)

There was a rash of barrels splitting on the tikka stainless rifles a while back , might want to check a serial number and compare with tikkas website before purchase. as for the quality of the tikka , they are very nice guns , floated barrel , smoooothe action, fully adj trigger by the owner ,drop out mag, light, and they drive tacks ,Try to find a 535 model number they are the older model and are a short action. all the tikka lights are long action guns .  if your going to use it for coyotes i suggest the 223 if you care about fur. a 3x 9 is the ticket unless your on the wet side , if you are i would go with a 1.5.x5 for the close in stuff. black hills  blue box 52 gr h.p. will shoot great out of that tikka and will be easy on fur. hope this helps , jerry .

that stupid plastic thing on the back of the bolt is a drawback. it cost 28 euros every time it breaks over here. I dont mind tikkas except for that. they are like most modern built rifles. crappy cast reciever and an impersonal stock.
