where do you buy your gear
« on: December 19, 2009, 12:19:22 PM »
Just curious, and then I have a follow up question.  If there was a waterfowl specific store that opened up in your area would you use it?

My buddy and I were talking the other day about whether or not it would be worth it to open a store specifically for bird hunting.  We get sick of going in to a store like Cabela's and seeing mostly store brand equipment.  Not a knock on Cabela's, I love their gear but other brands sometimes seem to get the job done better.  Also it is really frustrating to go int Wholesale Sports and have them be out of an item and not be able to tell you when it will be in stock, or that they just get what they get and can't order a specific item.

So all that being said, how appealing would a store that stocked a full line of gear from companies like FA, Drake, GHG, and other brands along those lines?

I go where I can find the gear. But since Joe's closed, I've been forced to travel at a minium of 2hrs to whole sale sports. So for now I just buy my shells at big5. I'd like to see a store that carrys the full line of everything and close to my place. A pipe dream though.
Hunting and Fishing is not what I do. But who I am...

I watch the deals.  I buy from Cabelas from time to time, but you pay a lot more.  This year I have visited and purchased gear from Kesserlings, Skagit Arms, Holiday Market, Wholesale Sports, Sportco, Bi-Mart and Fishermans Marine.  Purchased most of the gear at Skagit Sports or Wal Mart for shell, they had the Black Cloud at the best price.

and wholesale, and the general store, and cabelas.  Just depends on whats a good buy when I'm there and when I need it.  I haven't yet made the leap into the 20th century and online shopping.

Macks, Rogers or the Decoy Barn. The decoy Barn is the only local shop worth a crap.
