No one from Moses Lake has any business talking, I moved to ML in about 1954 moved away in 1969. I had to take an IQ test to get into college, just moving out of ML it went up 86 points! LOL
I really think you need to look at Tasco.

I almost bought a pair last year......but when compared side-by-side with the EL's.....I couldn't do it.  Too big of a diff......even for the convenience of 2 in 1.  Thank the lord that Zeiss came out with an RF bino.....that is definitely in the hunting budget this year!

I still can't figure out why you bought 3 copies of a binocular you don't like.   Or were they returned and got the same quality back in each copy you returned?

I do agree the EL's are a superior binocular, but I always like the convenience concept of the range finder built into the binocular.

A friend of mine bought the Geovids about 4 years ago, and when he did, I bought his LRF 800 from him that was 10 years old.  I still like the range finder, but would like to not have to carry two separate items.  Not convenient.  By the way my friend still loves his Geovids.

When looking at weight - should you be adding the weight of EL, plus the weight of the rangefinder you carry to accurately compare to the Geovids?

I know of two guys that have the 10x42 geovids and they a bad ass. They both love them and I do to. I dont think they area any more bulky than normal binos and they are definitely better than higher priced zeiss. If any brand is bulky its zeiss for sure although i am sure they are good. But as far as price goes they are all way to much money. If I wanted a range finder bino combo Leica makes the best product IMO.

I'll give a little background on my opinion. After I saved (and saved and saved some more ) for some premium glass, I was dead set on a pair off Geovids, they seemed like a gift from the heavens, what a great idea!!
Then reality set in, I went to Sportsmans and got the sales guy to take the Geovids, Swarovskis, and Zeiss outside. The Geovids were the losers handsdown. Ya, I ended spending more in the long run b/c I had to buy a rangefinder (Leica LRF1200) seperate, but I have no doubt it was the right decision.
 Thats just my  :twocents:

Westside guys dont even know how to use there optics right! :o

I need the glass here on the westside for ticks, I HATE ticks and I won't shoot a deer with ticks.  :chuckle:

Well, Gentlemen........

At the end of the day the wares from China, foggy glass and all, did exactly what they were supposed to do.

Got a deal and a half on the three sets, and  snatched em up without any hesitation. I need three sets of these paperweights, like I need another dozen Clatter Tads.

Anyways, sold two sets.......at a handsome profit. Kept the last set.....Au gratis, Pro bono, free.......my favorite price.

At any rate, a paid what these hunks of llama dung are worth.

Don't cha know the premium people pay for llama manure?

..............as always, offering sobering truth.

Is it possible that they were rip offs?  I was under the impression that Leica was not made in china, maybe I am wrong.

Isn't Germany a province of China?

Clatter Tads......as many as I am sitting on, are a mite hard to find in my mostest favoritest colors.

Can't get rid of them, I would end up spending too much time replicating good ones from the worthless ones I have with an  airbrush.

Sumptin about the tads, be it the lack of current they need to run, or the fact they usually don't need a tune up...or is it the fact that steelhead or a late kinger will kill em?.....hard not to have a special place in your heart for them.

The Zeiss are more expensive, but equally more impressive.  The Geovids lack something optically - that is a fact.  Do the research, or, just compare them in the field with other high end glass.   If you haven't done this, then all you have is an opinion.

If the Geovids where the best, I would own them.  I don't have brand loyalty, I will buy the best, regardless of who produced it.   I have not used the new HD Geovids, maybe they are better? But new price is comparable to the Zeiss and all hands point to the Zeiss as a superior product, both optically, and range accuracy/dependability.

My lone set of Geovid lack something now......his two brothers.

Good thing, because I hate them and was happy to send them to the orphanage.
