I will be ordering the same scope soon.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

I've been thinking about one in 6.5-20x50 for a .300wm Sendero.
Anybody have one?

I have the leo 4.5x 14 and love it! What is the CDS though :dunno: I was thinking about sending it in to get a new reticle put in with the long range yardege dots, is that it or the adjustable turrits?

Jud (257) is the perfect person to ask about such things as he has about 9 different Leupolds. Some with M1 turrets, some target turrets, and 3 now with CDS turrets? How you likin those Leupolds Jud?  :chuckle:

I sent my leupold in for my 300 ultra and they build the reticles in and good out to 600 yards if you don't want turrets.

I have the exact same scope in the VX-III and I love it, I have never hunted with a scope with an objective over 40mm so I can't chime in for that.

BUT, before you order your dial custom to the load your are shooting make sure that you shoot through a chrono machine to get your exact FPS with your bullet you are shooting. If you hand load you will most likely already know this. When I ordered my turret I was told that the FPS on the box I was using should be close but with more investigation on some other forums and advice from other members (jamieb and josht) on here I found that is not going to be very accurate. I chose to just order an M1 turret and went out and shot my 'drop chart' for myself. I was fairly close to what the FPS on the box would have been but enough off that I am glad that I did not order the custom turret. Plus if you should choose to place the scope on a different caliber rifle you will be able to create another drop chart without having to order another turret.

If you decided to shoot your gun through a chrono you could option to get the custom mil-dots places in the scope eliminating having to have an adjustable turret. Especially if you are going to be sliding it in and out of a scabbard. My M1 tends to get snagged in my backpack I found out.  :bash:

Good luck, hope this helped.

If you are going to shoot under 1000yds look at the ZEISS z800 sight at 200yds, $700 for demo model, just point and shoot out to 800yds.
