.308 ammo
« on: December 22, 2009, 07:02:25 AM »
Whats the best factory ammo for the 700 tactical with a 20 inch barrell (for tight groups and down range tragectory). I just don't have time to become a reloader. Thank's and merry Christmas.

For hunting or paper punching?  Take a look at Hornady TAP for tactical/target applications, but it really depends on what your rifle likes.  I don't own any Remington rifles, so I'm not exactly sure.   :twocents:

What is the twist rate?
For accuracy, I'd look at Black Hills bluebox with MatchKings.
There's a new (to me) ammo company doing factory reloads...BVAC.
Supposedly started by a guy from HSM.
Bought some plinker ammo at the gunshow and it looks and shoots good.
Didn't see .308 but didn't look, either.

Critters or paper?

90 plus percent of LE snipers (in Washington) use Federal Premium gold medal match, 168 grain sierra matchking BTHP.

Can you use hp ammo against soft targets(human-grade soft targets)?
Barnes TSX is close to match-grade hunting bullet.
Those Federal cartridges are real expensive for what you get.
