Harrah/White Swan Derby?
« on: January 06, 2010, 11:45:54 AM »
A little bird told me today there was a derby there this weekend...

Anyone know any details?

Yes, they are on the res, and you can't shoot fur bearers on the res.  But I was told that is where the derby is being held.  Something about starting at 6pm Friday and going to Noon on Sunday.  You can hunt anywhere and a $50 entry fee.

I'm still digging.

last year they shut it down, I know it was held out at the old harrah farm shop. The Indians dont like it for some reason. But you can hunt anywhere for the dogs. I think that van de graf's won it last year. They do give out some great prizes though. I know some people out there I will find out more about it.

i live in selah and you have to put in for a permit every year.  you can only shoot and trap fur bearers.  but no bobcat or bear.  they draw early in the year and are very very stingent.  you will only get drawn if someone from the year before turns down there permit.  there is a waiting list.  every coyote you shoot you have to take a blood sample and turn into the tribe.  i would say that 1 out of 3 coyotes as a for of mange.  the derby in harrah is not legal for anyone to hunt on the res so watch out or you will loose your gun and maybe your truck.  there is a derby in yakima this weekend but is just friends and family.  and before you ask were and when ITS CLOSED TO ANYONE ELSE.
