Hunting area pics, not about kills but the areas they're in

Spotted a spike bull at the top of the far ridge that day. Made the mistake of shooting a forky at the bottom of that hill one year, from the top of it. We were both near the top, but him and a doe spotted me and ran down. Wasn't sure if I wanted to shoot him or not, but was holding on him towards the bottom and the gun went off. Not a fun climb up with a deer on your shoulders. At least he wasn't heavy.

From top of said ridge the next morning

Went up higher that morning into some snow

Down into the thick stuff, which is right in the same area I accidently called in a 7-point bull opening morning of deer a few years back. Snapped a branch and gave a cow call. Stood around for 5 minutes and heard a tiny twig snap behind me. Turned to look at him staring at me from 20 yards away. Came in that quietly. He stood there for about two minutes staring at me and walked off as quietly as he came in. Never did see him again.

Saw a button buck down below before I got a 3x4 behind and above me. Just happened to look back at the right time and caught him between some trees.

Up at the to of the hill from behind that last photo, found her and a fawn one year. Was real slow and not paying much attention to her and was able to get within 30 yards while in plain view. As long as I didn't get too close, she felt fine with me there with as slow and calm as I was being. Hoped a buck would show up, but didn't happen.

Late archery hunt a few years back. Wanted snow, but not this much.

One of many, many rubs I've seen. Tried going after him a couple years ago with no luck.

Up near the top of the mountain. Was just a few minutes behind him and a doe during the rut.

Good luck glassing in some areas, all you'll see is trees.

Frustrating beyond belief at times, but great times as well.

Here's a couple of cellphone pix from this fall.

All these pictures were taken from the same spot.  Could see everything from up there.  Except animals.  :chuckle:

Yeah... got it. That clear cut on the bottom right of your picture has seen my bootprints many times.... I think that's about where the national forest shoulders up to the private timberland to the north. Our camp is approx four miles back on that road just before the green gate. Kinda neat when you recognize a place posted on here.
