re the 887- 12 shots and you dont like the gun? not much of a trial run...  if you want to sell it, name your price.  I might be interested.

I would stay away from Charles Daly autos.  Took a friend out last weekend and it cost him dearly when the gun wouldnt cycle and he had to go back to the car and grab my backup gun.  I always pack an extra pump :)
I have been looking into an auto after shooting pumps for years.  I am trying to decide between the SX3 and Browning Silver.

I have had my Winchester X2(28" barrel camo) for 9 seasons now and I love it, I have a couple of buddies who have the new X3 and they love them as well.  I am too cheap and mine is still working great :twocents:

Ridgefire:
I've got an 1187 for sale in the classifieds on this site. Let me know if it's what you're looking for and maybe we can make a deal.

I have a SX2.  Piece of trash.  Lasted about 2 seasons before it started mis-firing shells.  It was always cleaned around every 100 rounds or after a wet hunt.  It would strike the primer of the shell, but not hard enough to ignite it.  Winchester sent me a longer firing pin that still didn't cure the problem.  It shoots 1/3 shells right now.  it's a 3-1/2" synthetic black auto with a 26" barrel.  Also the sling swivel on the magazine cap decided to break one day while I was carrying it and the barrel flipped back straight down into the dirt. >:(

Got a Benelli SBEII half way through this season and haven't looked back.  Easier gun to clean imo and it shoots every time I pull the trigger.  Very happy with this gun!

I'm shooting a Mossberg 935 in Shadowgrass for Waterfowl and Turkeys.  I have a 24 in barrel with fiber optic sights front and back for turkeys.  Also have a 28 in. barrel for waterfowl.  Good gun for the money.

I shoot an old used 11-87 I bought from a friend.  Never fails to function.  I also shoot my Browning A-5 magnum 12 from time to time.  I brought down 7 ducks with 7 shells a few weeks ago with the browning.  both are fine shooters.

I have had a Mossberg 935 for 4 years i think and it has been a great gun for what I paid for it is very dependable, but I have been thinking about buying a new gun that will shoot 2 3/4 and 3 1/2 as the Mossberg will only shoot 3 and 3 1/2 so I really cant shoot skeet for practice. The Mossberg is Ca mo and has never let me down

Lol, Chaos, guess ya didn't like the price, well two trips out with it now since i posted last, total of four fail to fire, maybe bad kent ammo not sure, but has failed to extract a fired round six times, four yesterday, put about 35 rounds more thru it, still having problems with the slide locking in the foward position, ya have to shoot, push foward and then pullback.  anyways yeah, dont get a remington 887, i would recommend the browning auto mentioned, the remington 1100 and 1187 are real good, and i do like the remington 870.

GEARHEAD I think that there may be a problem with the Kent shells brass over expanding, that may be causing the non-extraction. Been having problems with that on the Kents.

Gearhead- I disagree with ducks55.  I have seen the same problems that you described in my buddy's 887.  While he was shooting Kent shells, he also had the same problems with Winchester and Federal.  IMHO- bad gun that needs more R&D

Kbyers- not saying thats the problem for sure just stating it may be a possibility. I do personally think the 887 is a poorly made gun, but shells sticking in barrels happens to more than just the 887. The brass does over expand on them. Take a look at an empty kents brass and a loaded shell. You will be able to see a difference in the depth on the lip on the brass.
