Been shooting a Browning Gold 10 gauge auto for years now.  Bought it to compensate for the lackluster performance on the early 3" 12 gauge steel shot.  Love it, but each year it seems to get just a bit heavier.

With the high cost of 10 gauge shells, a shiny new 1187 12gauge in 3 1/2" is starting to look pretty good.

I have an 870 and like it a lot. But then I spent the money and bought a benelli and I went from being a good shot to an even better shot. It's amazing the amount of birds that any novice can kill, and how a seasoned shooter can become even better with one of these guns. I am extermely hard on my equipment and use it to the max, and I have never had a single problem with this gun. I shoot the super black eagle, and of all of the benilli's out there I like it the best. DON"T SKIMP ON YOUR EQUIPMENT. If you think about it you buy licenses, tags, gas, food, and ton of other things in your life, and when you go cheap your typically either not happy with the purchase, or you end up replacing the item you bought. I don't own a u-go I own 4 dodge ram 4x4's for my business, ,and my play because they get the job done and I don't have to worry about being dissatisfied. Buy the benilli, kill more birds, and don't look back. Keep on hunt'n!

I try to clean my Benelli SBEII after each outting.  That way I don't have to worry about possible jams.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I have been looking really hard at the browning Maxus.  I haven't read anything bad about it yet but don't know anyone who has shot it but it is definetly on my hit list.  I have a browning bps and winchester sx2.  I have been shooting the winchester this year and have had several soft hits on primers as well and last weekend the cartridge stop dissappeared out of my gun out in the blind.  Just freaking gone >:(  Turned my autoloader into a singleshot.  I shot really well that day for some reason :chuckle: gonna fix it and sell it, down payment on my maxus

If I ever decide that I need a 3 ½ gun I will definitely go with the browning Maxus.  I just wish they made it with 30” barrel.

Anybody have experience with the Weatherby SA-08?  Weatherby makes a good gun, and the pricepoint makes it worth a look.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

IMO the Franchi I-12 is an excellant all around gun, 3'' mag or 2 3/4 inertia driven no internals to mess with to shoot different loads, never jammed on me just a reliable gun. mine is a 28'' barrel. slim and light weight, I had the sx2 and basically gave it away had nothin but problems, jamming, broke a firing pin and never patterned good. maybe it was because it was a first gen?. I shoot Black cloud #2 threw a carlsons mid-range most of the time, and on blue bird days when they fly a little higher and are weary, Pattern master ported extended range Remington #4's excellant load, will shoot with any 3 1/2. But Benelli does own them now thats where the ID action came from. Just remember, we can all feed people full of info, but it is what gun gives you best fit when you pull up.
