Your look around 700 for a cheaper one. You can always just slowly build one. Buy a lower an the save an get the upper you want. They have uppers in bigger cals.

well I have a Bushmaster, a DPMS and a Colt H-Bar...all run, all shoot well (H-Bar is a tack driver with almost ANY ammo..)

I dont think you will be wrong with a Remington R-15, a DPMS or a Bushmaster (who is building the R-15)...or others like Rock River...Lots to choose from.
A Smith & Wesson Beats Four Aces.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

What we have here is...Washington Department of NO Fish and WATCHABLE Wildlife.

WDFW is going farther and farther backwards....we need FISH AND GAME back!

Question for you AR guys.  Can a guy get into a decent one for about 5 bills?  Never had any experience with AR style rifles, but have wanted one for a long time.  Although I would prefer a big game caliber, instead of .223.

Thanks for any info.

Huntbear.

If by decent, you mean something that functions properly but may be cosmetically imperfect and comes from a reputable company, I would check out the bargain bin at CMMG.
They will most likely be all 5.56/.223 though.

do all of you own a damn bushmaster? yes they have been around for a few days but owning 2 ar-15s one match and one "pistol" and having shot 10 different brands/ close to 30 set-ups, fulton armory, and jp enterprises make the finest imo, i built mine out of dpms lower, one piece trigger group, 24" super bull barrel and it shoots very well. i spent $575 on my pistol build with a dpms lower and a lewis machine and tool upper in 7", the kits are do able for around 600 if you do the leg work and its nice lower receiver prices are comming down to around 100 dollars again.
when all else fail, grab the browning machine gun
