Great pictures of some monster bulls!

Are you really that close with the small lens or are you cropping them?

Nice ones.  We swung by this morning with the fresh white and there wasn't an elk.  Glad you are enjoying the new camera.

Thanks guys!  I think I am hooked allready, just planning how to get a bigger lens without getting a divorce :chuckle:  I don;t know if I am cropping the pic :dunno:  I enlarge it to cut the rest out around the picture, the lens I used in this pic was actually 55-200mm the other one (smaller 22-55 is the original that comes withthe camera)

Awesome Rene', you just opened yourself to a whole new sport. One suggestion for you and maybe anyone else that may be reading, read your manual and learn how to change your exposure. When shooting in snow like that, the camera tends to meter off it, dropping your exposure 1/3, 2/3 or a full stop will get you more detail and keep it from blowing out too bright. Always remember that its better to have the image a little under exposed than over exposed, I can work with you on getting this figured out. ;)

I was working on this same problem this morning.  I was just out screwing around with my new camera taking some pictures of my horses in the snow for practice (just ones that I'll delete later - nothing too cool) and was messing around with dropping exposure.  I ended up with some blue tinted photos when I did this and was having trouble figuring out how far to drop...Would this be caused by dropping too much?  (Unfortunately, my wife's to do list caught up to me before I could finish figuring this out.)

Using a Canon 30d with the kit 18 - 55mm lens.  Saving for the 70 - 200mm L IS and the 300mm L IS + teleconverter.  Sometime in the near future, I hope.

eh.  On further investigation it might have been white balance not set correctly...

Here are my second pics with my new camera, I used a 75-300 with no IS and a 55-250.  The big boys were feeding yesterday.  Its only my second time and I absolutely love, need a lot more practice though.
