Thanks for the replies.  All of the advice is helpful.  I had to do this same thing when I moved to Alaska.  I usually just get a very general sense of an area and head out with the gun.

As stated before WELCOME :hello:. As for the State, has been better but it is what we have. It will be as good or bad as you make it to be. If you are a guy that measures success by limits of game you maybe a bit disappointed. However, if your measure is by getting out and have fun with whatever you get you will love it here. There is some great folks on this board that once you make yourself at home will help you out a little more. Stick around you will see.

I'd pick a more rural place to live or you will have to drive so far to hunt.  It's a catch 22, drive far to work or drive far to hunt.  I guess it depends what you do for a living.  Goodluck.

Well, we just got here and I'm getting the lay of Seattle.  I realize that I will be doing some driving to hunt.  What is a good fish and game office to get some info from?

Thanks

Welcome to Seattle! I've lived here since '92, all of my adult life. I think the closest F&G office is up in Mill Creek, but you can get most info from the WDFW website.
