got my first banded duck today

went out this morning hunting was slow got ten between three of us but one was banded. it was a drake gadwall that was banded in oregon in aug of 08. did not get any pics of it though because my camera was still at the computer from trying to do the wood duck mount pics got a band on my lanyard now anyways

Thats cool! I always thought banded gads were pretty rare.

been pretty much exclusively gadwall for us for the last week or two makes for a pretty easy hunt but honestly would rather be shooting greenheads like this place usually produces, must be a push of gadwalls coming down possibly

Man, I want to get a banded duck!  Saw a banded Green head today.

Congrats!  I have harvested a lot of ducks over the years on the eastside of the state.  I stopped duck hunting 4 years ago and in 24 years of shooting ducks and geese never bagged a band.

My very first duck, a drake Greenwing Teal that I shot in South Carolina in 1967 had a band on it.  Wonder what the odds are on that.... :chuckle:
