re: 1 meal verses 2  -- honestly, I also believe in the 1 meal theory.  However, our household is far more peaceful if they are on 2 meals a day, so that's what we do.  If they are hunting or showing or training hard a day, we skip their breakfast, and give them a couple cookies in place.

YMMV

Sorry Clumber, I love our dogs and cats, and horses but just don't need them in the house right now.  If it was just me they would be trained to have their own spot but I have 8 people in the house and It is a job to clean up after them and get them to clean up after themselves.  If you saw where the dog sleeps (my husband's dog), he doesn't clean up after her but asks the kids to do it for him.  I will not have my house looking like that.  I clean my horse stalls every day cause that is how I am, the girls that ride help with the feeding.  My husband just has another way of caring for animals and it is not the same as mine.  I've learned not to let it bother me and leave it as his responsibility.  His truck , the same, the dog goes with him everywhere but I will only ride in the truck with hunting clothes on it is not for riding in with clean clothes to go to town.
