My first Moose mount is drying! (Charlie's Taxidermy)
« on: January 01, 2010, 07:08:12 PM »
Well, I thought I would post some pictures of Ridgerunners moose he killed last year. It is the first moose I have had an opportunity to do. I started with a wallmount form and made it into a pedestal which ended up being more involved than expected  :chuckle: Anyway, here are some pictures of the form and the prepped cape and finally the mount which is not finished and is in the drying ? grooming stage. Enjoy the pics!!

Charlie

Looking good, when it is finished if you don't mind taking some close ups of it, I need some reference pictures for a moose  ;)

Looks like I need to kill a moose now!  Nice!

What I like most about Charlie is that fact that he continually builds his portfolio with exceptional work.  I always look at cougar mounts to gauge taxidermists' eye for detail and realism because in a cat mount, it's all about the face proportions and expression.  When I saw Charlie's first cat, I knew he was the guy who would mount my first mature blacktail.  Since that time I've seen a number of killer BT mounts come out of his garage, which has only added fuel to the fire.  Got my first good blacktail and it was in his shop the very next morning!  Can't wait but it'll be well worth it.

Given the fact that moose aren't the most majestic looking creatures, I would say that this looks like a good mount.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
