I would say you need another choice or 2.  My vote would be to leave general season as is and reduce both rifle and archery late season tags while adding some general season anybuck tags for youth hunters.

If you live in eastern washington you can hunt every year.  If you live in western washington, you have to draw a permit to hunt in eastern washington as a non resident. :chuckle:

Here's THE Plan -

Keep a short 9 day general season.  Then offer 200-300 permits in each Chelan and Okanogan counties gmu for any buck Oct. 24-31.  The offer a limited number of November tags (20) limited to 4 point or better.  If you draw a tag you need to wait 2 years to apply again.

Everyone has the ability to hunt during the general season, a good number of people could potentially have a good hunt in late October depending on the weather that year and for those who elect the November tags, a true trophy type hunt.

This would eliminate bubba joe putting in for the November hunts because he can shoot a deer from the truck.   ;)

I've seen this somewhere. :)

Just poking fun Iceman.  Its part of that whole east vs west arguement that was happening that got nuked as it wasn't very productive.  Kind of the mentality of sitting in King county, making regs for those that live in Okanogan county.  I have no idea where he lives, just poking fun at that particular attitude.   :P

You know the other thing we could do is allocate the tags based on the where the tax revenue is raised in the state say 75% in king county so 75% of the tags go to king county residents ;)

I better go get in Gregoire's ear she does have an election coming up.......

Thats probably about where 75% of the people live, so you probably already have that allocation.  Course looking at the voting record from king county I think maybe only 1% or less of those folks actually hunt.

I bet 1-3% is about right for big game IMHO. 1% every year for deer and elk.

I totally agree with this PLAN, and the main reason I do so is because it is a POSSIBLE plan...  Ya there's some more structured plans mentioned in the other thread that could work better, but I see this plan as having the best possibility of passing with the hunting crowd that includes meat hunters and trophy hunters...
