andrew 12 gauge is right all but a hand full of units are otc end of aug through the end of sept, it get very hot but well worth it.

I guess I just assumed that since you were seeing big bucks regularly, that you were in one of the bow draw only units.  So that is with an OTC Tag?  Impressive.

Hey - if you are interested in Trophy Bucks in Eastern Oregon there is a great trophy mule deer hunt raffle going on right now.  It's on a 33,000 private acre reserve and there are 170-200 class muleys..  I purchased some tickets and can give you the website that has the flier or email me and I can send you a pdf file of it.  The proceeds go to a charity - that puts out AED's in that local county area.. the odds are really great too.

there is some dandys that hit the dirt every year that are public ground i am sure there is allot on private well managed ground as well as the parks but i don't think there is one behind every bush on public ground that for sure.

Has anyone hunted the Colombian whitetails in either open unit? Are they huntable with archery tackle?

How many points do you have?  You have about a 1 in 5 chance of drawing the Umpqua tag with 7 points.  But with Columbian whitetails, you really need access to private land, so you would need to make some calls, not alot of public land.  For mulies, try the Trout Mountains... bad odds of getting drawn, but decent genetics.

Oh yes, if you do decide to hunt Oregon this year bring some extra money this year! They raised all the pricing considerably from last year. Hunting License $140.50/double from before and Elk tag went from $361.00 to 500.50, all these are for us non-residents, I have points for elk,deer, and antelope, looking to burn them and spend my money on other states with better potential or quality for the same price or even slightly cheaper.

Hunting License $140.50/double from before and Elk tag went from $361.00 to 500.50, all these are for us non-residents, I have points for elk,deer, and antelope, looking to burn them and spend my money on other states with better potential or quality for the same price or even slightly cheaper.

Yup.  I noticed that when I downloaded the app last week.  Holy crap.  Didn't they see what happened to Idaho last year when they did that?

So their revenue could go down?  Or so they would have to deal with less out of state hunters?

Yes, they made a bad move especially with the economy the way it is. I know alot of people that hunt out of state every year in Oregon and purchase OTC tags as well as entering the draws or acquiring points for future draws, and their thought process is right in line with about 80% talking about the issue of higher price's, NO MORE FOR OREGON, or I need to get rid of the points already acquired and quit putting in for the draws and wasting money. It's sad to say that WA. as well as Oregon has gotten so greedy and are only interested in gaining more revenue, rather than having a good quantity of revenue(  with previous pricing) and well managed game and managed hunts with equality.
