Finally getting into the mature Pintail Drakes.
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:42:52 PM »
The mature drakes started showing up in greater numbers bout two weeks ago.  Some of the juvies are growing the pins, but starting to get some mature sprigs with long tails.  Many must have been sitting in the bay for a while as there white breasts were already stained the golden brown color.

Here are some of the pins from the last outtings.

nice pins. I haven't seen a real nice mature yet myself. I'm hoping to get one worth mounting this year.

thanks man. I've been wanting to hunt with you since we started talking last year. this last week I was working. convention in vegas. sounds like fun, but it was actually a grueling 6 days. This saturday I'm hunting sea ducks up north, but i may be able to hook up with you for one of the last two weeks of the year. just kinda playing it by ear to see how this weekend goes. If the sea duck hunting is good I may do some more bay work myself with the lund.

Awesome looking pins. They are my current trophy bird, I would love one on the wall, but they have managed to elude me rather well.

You can have some.  Had to many this weekend.  Here's two from Sunday.  I had two just like it from Sat.  I love shooting the mature sprigs.  I try to pass on them all season, to get the good ones in January.
Cut em!
