METALHEADS ON THE WASHOUGAL
« on: January 07, 2010, 08:57:26 AM »
I am new to the area and decided to hop on the steelies on the washoughal. I was just wondering if anyone would be able to clue me in on what is used on the river.  Fished it for three days now and nothing, just looking for any kind of pointers.

Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

Rumor has it they won't take a drifted bait.  ;)

You will need to run a jig and salad shrimp.  :dunno:

I have heard salad shrimp is popular on the river so I've been trying the jig and shrimp.  Finally the river is getting fishable again. I still cant resist throwing bait though, fishy fingers smell oh so yummy :fishin:

Is anyone catching fish on the river?  If not, try a different river.  If yes, ask them what they are using.  Try a local shop and hit them up for info.  Are you new to fishing the jig and shrimp set-up.  A common problem for newbies is getting it deep enough.   :dunno:

Its been a little high and dirty the last couple days, but jigs and shrimp or a piece of a pink worm on a jig set about 4' deep should do the trick.
Try drifting the tailout at hathaway park also with bait.

Heard they've been doing well at the cop shop also on jigs you can also drift bait under a bobber that works well also.

I was being helpful. Same advice others gave. Take a chill pill. I didn't mean to get yer panties in a wad. :sry: yer about as testy as my 9 month prego wife.

12gauge, keep chucking the salad shrimp they will work. Fish grab em and won't let go!!
