My dad has a cedar shake and shingle mill that used to be an old lumber mill back in the day and there is lots of old chunks of cedar laying around the place. A couple weeks ago he was looking around the pieces of wood and found a pretty good size piece of alaskan yellow cedar laying in the bushes. It got me thinking about if you could make a longbow out of it or not. Seems to me that yellow cedar is far harder wood than red cedar (which is worthless for bow making) and I'm thinking it might be possible. Has anyone made one out of yellow cedar or know someone who has? Is it even worth trying?
