Wilamette ass kicking today !!!
« on: January 09, 2010, 09:34:33 PM »
Today started out fine with meeting up with the boat a little after 5am for a couple hour ride down to Portland where we had to stop for a couple hours at Freddy Meyers to get our fishin license, turns out there is no age limit there to work the service counter, I swear that lady was turning into a fossil right before our eyes. Nevertheless we headed out to the anchor pullin derby that was to be the theme of the day, I think our Anchor Boy turned into an Anchor Man by the time it was all over, (I will take the anchor duty next time buddy !!!  :chuckle: ) I kind of felt like those guys wanted to throw me over board like Jonah after so many hours of terrible fishing conditions but I think they were afraid that the whale would never spit me out on the beach so I got to stay in the boat !!  :chuckle:

We did get to spend hours and hours away from home holding our rods so I think it was a success over all !!

We almost got run over by a bigger boat !!

We got to see Tom Sellicks house !!

We got to watch the fearless captain hook a beauty keeper sturgeon then stick his line in the kicker prop !!  :bash:

Etc...

Etc...

Etc...

The river was really running high and muddy and had so much debris floating down it was like a slalom course when we had to run from here to there.

Captain Nitrile Silly String did manage to land a fine specimin which was quickly released unharmed despite the molesting it received just prior !!!

Thank You very Much Cohoho !!! I really do believe you...................Honest !!!  :chuckle:

Never seen Mike kissing the fish, usually someone else. Cohoho is a great skipper and fisherman. Looks like you all had fun.

Mike, did you get some of those sliders I was talking about?

Yea, Picked up a couple bags...  Robo forgot to mention we caught a 265/75/16 tire also with the anchor also.... :yike:  Should have yielded the weather (from the past couple days of rain) a bit better, but hey got a trip scheduled might as well do it...  The water was a chunky coco brown with more debris flowing that anything else.  A couple log homes looks like they fell apart up river and were coming down in the a.m.  It was really bad for fishing even the back eddies had tons of debris and heavy current flow.  A decent keeper near the boat, and I kept thinking maybe I should kill the kicker....  Oh- well we didn't want to mess with filleting him anyhow...  It was however a very quick and efficient "prop" release...

Let me clarify that I would take a trip like that anyday over staying home !!!  :IBCOOL:
